Young Colls win in the league

Deja Vu at the Urban Sports Stadium, as the young Colls beat Worsborough 3-2 for the second week running.

The youngsters fielding 6 changes from the previous week still resulted in the same outcome as Colls were on fine form. With new signing Willis leading the line alongside the ever presence Whitley it looked to be a could partnership early on as both had chances at the Worsborough goal. Ponte were playing some excellent football in the first 20 mins with great movement and vision by the players resulted in a lot of possession for the young Colls side. Hancock was a constant live wire down the right and the opener came courteous of a cross come shot which caught the keeper off his line and the ball nestling in the back of the goal. Worsbourough had few chances in the first half as their one directional play was marshaled well by centre back Fry and stand in centre back Hoyle.

Second half Colls came out slow and invited the Worsborugh on them , Nuttal in goal wasn't really tested , new signing Lumb had entered the fray at half time at left back and looked effective. Colls midfield of Fish and captain Turfrey didnt have the same effect in the second half as they did in the first , this didn't stop them going 2-0 up when a Whitley corner was converted by Greenhough with a header at the back post. This spurred the Worsborough players on and after a flurry of attacks the grabbed their first goal when they converted a power header from a corner of their own. The game became scrappy and looked as though it would fizzle out but Colls scored a classy goal when Greenhough was switched to striker as Willis was replaced by Warvill and he tuck in at right back. Hanock was the provider when he beat the full back and sent a cross in Greenhough who lost his marker found some space and scissor kicked the ball in beyond the helpless keeper. Turfey was replaced by another new signing in 16 year old Angell who came on in for his first taste of u19 action. Worsborough made it a nervy last few minutes for Colls as they scored in the 88th minute from another set play this time a Free kick which came back off the cross bar and was met by a Worsborough player who was quickest to react.

This week (Thursday 26th March) Colls take on Hemsworth MW away in the 1/4 of the league cup
